Class 1: The Basics

You will have a great time creating great looking cakes, learning the fundamentals and basics. Making and coloring icing, preparing cakes, filling and using decorating bags. Kathy will show you “tricks of the trade” so you get the results that you desire. She shows you decorating techniques step by step. How to make a great tasting butter cream, icing consistency’s, and using a decorating bag at the correct positions and pressures. You will learn cake preparations and fillings. In the beginning stages learn stars, zigzags, curvy lines, writing, piping and a shell border. Make and learn arrangements on your cake using flowers like the Rose, Drop Flowers and Sweet Peas along with vines and leaves. Get the most out of your classes and Practice, Practice, Practice!

Class 2: Borders & Flowers

Build on the Basics and learn amazing new techniques! With elegant new borders and lovely new flowers. Adding to the shell border is the rosette, rope and reverse shell border. In addition the flowers to come are the Victorian Rose, Daisy, Daffodil, Pansy, Rosebud, Mum, Apple Blossom, Violet, Violet Leaf, and Primrose. With the two new icings royal and color flow you can use any pattern you wish to add exciting three dimensional decorations. You will also learn Basket Weave variations and flower sprays. By expanding on the basics, you will have the tools to decorate a cake for any occasion.

Class 3: Final Touchs

Introduces details to enhance beauty like string work, Cornelia lace, sotas, elegant ruffle borders and bead borders. Discover fondant icing, the fondant rose and make stunning Lilly nail flowers such as the Easter Lilly, Poinsettia, Petunia and the Morning Glory. Learn the classy brush embroidery and how to construct and assemble a tiered cake. Introductory to fondant brings your cake decorating to a whole new level. Fondant and Gum paste - Create flowers and accents with beautiful detail. Use tools to cut and shape amazing textured ribbons and borders. Using fondant icing make embellishments, draping, overlays and marbleized effects. Fondant carnation, cutouts, favor box and borders. With gum paste learn the daisy, carnation, carnation calyx, carnation leaf, fantasy flower and leaves. Develop skills to use for a life time!

Bring no supplies, take all the samples home! Take home a Recipe Booklet and the candies you make including but not limited to -chocolate suckers - red and green peppermint - millionaires - haystacks - thin mints - Oreo surprise - cream cheese mints - peanut butter cups - tiger butter - molded chocolate - Twix - peanut clusters - heath bar - chocolate crisps - Homemade candies to make for fun or even as gifts!
